MADISON, Wis. –– Women credit union leaders from around Wisconsin gathered to network, share ideas, and hone leadership skills at the Wisconsin Credit Union League’s Women’s Leadership Seminar here.
Co-sponsored by Corporate Central Credit Union, the full-day event offered attendees insight into leadership best practices, and addressed issues many women face as credit union industry executives.
“Corporate Central promotes and supports women’s leadership development within the credit union movement,” said Chris Felton, Corporate Central President/CEO. “We celebrate the fact that over half of all credit unions nationwide, as well as half of all credit unions in Wisconsin, are led by women CEOs. Women have been instrumental in helping the credit union movement move forward and we are committed to helping more and more women continue to achieve their career goals.”
“My experience at The League’s Women’s Leadership Seminar was educational, uplifting and empowering,” said Stephanie Schmidt, Corporate Central Manager Member Services, who recently earned her Accredited ACH Professional designation. “All three presenters had great information to share. Together, we reviewed statistics about women in industry leadership positions and discussed what we can do to increase those numbers.
Seminar speakers included:
- Tansley Stearns, CUCME, CSE, Chief Impact Officer of Filene Research Institute. Stearns presented research on the current state of women leaders in credit unions, as well as opportunities to enhance leadership and create a culture of inclusivity and equality.
- Valerie Groth, Executive Life Coach & Speaker of Valerie Groth LLC & Inspiration With Val. Groth spoke to the power of passion and determination in the face of challenge and adversity. She also shared actionable steps for pursuing success.
- Dr. Brandi Stankovic, CUDE, I-CUDE, Senior Vice President of CU Solutions. Stankovic presented leadership strategies that focus on building emotional intelligence through gender in order to communicate effectively and support a culture that promotes professional growth.
The seminar concluded with an interactive roundtable discussion for participants to share knowledge, experience, and expertise on issues faced by women in the workplace.
