FERNDALE, Mich. –Credit Union ONE held a document shredding day at its location here at which more than 2,500 pounds of confidential personal and business documents were shredded on-site.
"Thanks to the help of Credit Union ONE I was able to purge my closet, giving me much needed space," said Credit Union ONE member Sandra Harl.
In addition to the success of the shredding event, generous members donated over $218 to support the Children’s Miracle Network while at the event.
Working closely with Shred Corp., the industry-leading company that donated their time and equipment to provide secure on-site shredding services, Credit Union ONE coordinated the three-hour event for its members. The shredded paper waste collected was taken away for recycling into paper towels.
Separately, Credit Union ONE staff and board members had the opportunity to join the Oakland County Chapter of Credit Unions on a bus trip for "Lansing Advocacy Day.”
The goal for this annual event was to bring at least 40 credit union representatives from Oakland County to Lansing in an effort to build and maintain relationships with Oakland County lawmakers, and also to give credit union representatives exposure to credit union grassroots involvement.
Participants learned about important issues affecting credit unions in the state legislature, had the opportunity to network informally with Oakland County State senators and representatives, and provided a credit union perspective to our elected representatives.
