Credit Union West Reserves Parking Spots for Vets

GLENDALE, Ariz.–In a show of respect and support for U.S. veterans and military members, Credit Union West said it has established reserved parking spaces at six of its Phoenix-area branches for veterans. CU West said the initiative will expand to its Prescott, Prescott Valley and Cottonwood branches in May, and to the new Westgate corporate office and retail-banking branch during the first quarter of 2019.

Signs emblazoned with an American flag, reading “Military Veteran Parking,” designate the spaces which are located close to the front of the branch’s doors. The curbs will be painted blue to further distinguish the honorary spaces.

“We have all benefited from the brave men and women who serve and have served to protect our nation,” said CEO Bob MacGregor. “This is our way of recognizing their commitment, honoring their patriotism, and supporting our 65-year heritage of serving the military community and their families.”

Arizona is home to seven different military bases and is among the top-15 states for veteran populations. In 2016, there were 515,050 U.S. military veterans living in Arizona,  comprising an estimated 10% of the state’s adult population. The largest number of veterans currently live in Maricopa County.

“Everyone has neighbors, friends and family who were in the military, or who are currently active. Expressing appreciation helps build a stronger, more cohesive community for all,” said MacGregor. “This is our way of saying, we appreciate all you have done for us and thank you for your service.”
