ATLANTA-The $5-billion Delta Community Credit Union reported it invested more than $680,000 in 2015 in the communities it serves. Schools, chambers of commerce, non-profit groups, industry partners and civic organizations are among many groups that benefitted from Delta Community’s charitable giving. Among the recipients:
- More than $174,000 donated to Delta Community's established partner, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
- $27,500 invested in education in the form of college scholarships
- $75,000 granted to 30 non-profit organizations through the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund.
"We are excited to invest in programs and organizations that improve the lives of our members and the communities Delta Community serves," said Delta Community Business & Community Development VP Jai Rogers in a released statement. "We know that prepared individuals and healthy communities contribute to a greater good. When people and families thrive, our community thrives, and therefore we all thrive."
In 2016, the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund increased to $80,000, which is currently being distributed to 17 organizations committed to financial literacy and improving the lives of young people. They include educational programs focused on science, technology, engineering and math (S.T.E.M.), fiscal management and youth development.
