Diamond CU Employees Cheer Students In Reading Olympics

READING, Penn.–Representatives from Diamond Credit Union visited the Pottstown Middle School to cheer on students as they competed in the Pottstown Reading Olympics. Diamond’s mascot, Chip, was the life of the party as they visited participating classes who were all sporting their team T-shirts. This is the eleventh year that Diamond has sponsored the Pottstown Reading Olympics. Diamond’s donation helps to pay for supplies, travel expenses, and team T-shirts that promote team spirit and set Pottstown apart from other participating schools at the county level.

The Reading Olympics encourages children from all Pottstown elementary schools to get excited about reading, learn teamwork skills, and improve reading comprehension. The event is a rapid-recall question and answer competition that asks teams of students to answer questions pulled from 45 books. Pottstown holds the day-long Reading Olympics event, coordinated by Karen Neitz, at the Middle School to prepare students before the larger Montgomery County Reading Olympics.

“A large part of the Diamond story is being an active leader in the community and our partnership with the Pottstown School District shows how we can help local students at every phase of life. We first meet students here at the elementary level for this fun and educational event. Then in the Middle School, Diamond is there to support Junior Achievement, and at the High School level, we help prepare them for their financial future though financial literacy classes and a Financial Reality Fair. It’s really wonderful to have the opportunity to see all of these kids grow and succeed,” said John Faust, President/CEO of Diamond Credit Union.
