NAPERVILLE, Ill.–DuPage Credit Union is sponsoring the 2024 DuPage County Regional Spelling Bee in the Student Resource Center at the College of DuPage.
The event will feature approximately two-dozen local students in grades one through eight, who have earned the right to represent their school and district. All contestants will receive a swag bag that will include an event t-shirt designed and donated by the credit union, and a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card, donated by Wynndalco.
The DuPage Regional Office of Education has coordinated the regional spelling bee since the 2007-2008 school year and is the official sponsor this year. DuPage Credit Union donated $5,000 to help fund the event.
“We’re thrilled to sponsor this year’s spelling bee and wish all the contestants the best of luck,” said Amy Brandt, SVP-digital, payments and learning transformation.
The DuPage County Regional Spelling Bee champion will represent the DuPage County region in the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee Memorial Day weekend at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.
Additional Support
Separately, during the holiday season, DuPage Credit Union partnered with the DuPage Regional Office of Education’s (DuPage ROE) “Parents as Teachers” program to provide 125 DuPage County families in need with bags filled with nonperishable food items, basic cleaning necessities and a $100 Visa gift card.
“We are fortunate to be able to give back to families in need in our community, especially during the holiday season,” said Brandt. “We are excited about the possibility of expanding our partnership with the DuPage ROE in 2024.”
Since partnering with the DuPage ROE in 2014, DuPage Credit Union has raised more than $121,000 and provided thousands of backpacks and supplies to local students through its We’ve Got Your Back fundraiser.
“This new initiative will continue the credit union’s commitment to helping those in need,” Dupage CU said.
