KALAMAZOO, Mich.–ECCU’s Caring Committee, which is comprised of seven staff volunteers who coordinate the annual fundraising efforts among the credit union’s 130+ employees that ultimately benefit three handpicked local charities, reported it raised $4,560 in 2015 for three local organizations.
Housing Resources, Inc. (HRI) received $1,500, bringing the total amount the credit union has donated to HRI to $5,214 in the span of three years. The funds were directed toward efforts to rapidly re-house families who are leaving emergency shelter to transition into safe, affordable and permanent housing.
Kalamazoo Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Council (KCAN) received $2,000 in June 2015 from donations collected in April and May 2015. Funds were applied to their “Be A Lifesaver” campaign, which helps spread awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Kalamazoo Humane Society received $1,060 in December 2015. Funds supported the organization’s Operation Fix-It program, a low-cost program that offers an affordable way for people to get their pets spayed and neutered.
