BURTON, Mich. – ELGA Credit Union (ELGA) has presented a $20,000 donation to Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties representing proceeds from the Ginormous Tent Sale fundraiser.
The annual event, taking place over Labor Day weekend each year, is a yard sale with several tents full of donated goods. Countless volunteer hours are put in by both ELGA associates and Catholic Charities volunteers in order to make this event happen each year. The donation will support Catholic Charities’ soup kitchen, counseling programs and more.
“The Ginormous Tent Sale takes a village to put on, it has such an impact in our community,” says Karen Church coordinator and former ELGA CEO. “It helps those that need an outlet to repurpose items they no longer need, and it raises money for a wonderful charity. Many of the shoppers would not be able to purchase items like this if it wasn’t for our sale. We had many tell us how grateful they were for the opportunity to purchase items at a price they could afford.”
In its seventh year, the tent sale has raised $125,000 to support Catholic Charites much needed programs.
