Education First Supports 3 Nonprofits

BEAUMONT, Texas- Education First Federal Credit Union (EFFCU) employees raised more than $13,000 for three local non·profit organizations that were awarded checks in recognition of Giving Tuesday.

The funds were raised throughout the year through an employee-founded initiative called the Blue Jean Fridays Fund, The fund was created in 2015 as a voluntary program that allows employees to wear blue jeans to work each Friday in exchange for a $2 donation.

At the end of each calendar year, employees select a charitable cause or causes to receive the donations, The employee run Steering Committee nominates organizations in the community to receive the funds and employees are given the opportunity to vote for their selection.

This year, the fund has raised $13,150 and the recipients are:

  • Crisis Center of Southeast Texas
  • Harvest House
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Education First staff presented a check for $4,383 to each of the three organizations.
