Educators Credit Union Wins Governors Financial Literacy Award

RACINE, Wis.– The Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy announced that it has awarded Educators Credit Union with its 2017 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award

Educators Credit Union received the award in recognition of its work providing financial literacy in the classroom. Educators supplies local schools with the digital learning program EverFi. Students use the program to learn about important financial topics such as saving money, credit, financing higher education and more.

“We are honored to be recognized by the state for our work to increase financial literacy in the communities we serve,” said Educators Director of Community Engagement Victor Frasher. “EverFi is just one of the great tools the credit union uses to empower people to make the right financial decisions for themselves.”

Educators Credit Union was one of 18 individuals, businesses and organizations to receive the 2017 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award. They were selected from 29 nominations submitted for consideration.

“These individuals and organizations are to be commended for their dedication to helping citizens of all ages enhance their personal financial knowledge and skills,” Governor Walker said. “Financial literacy is about equipping people with the tools they need to be financially secure and achieve their goals.”

Criteria considered during the screening process included innovative implementation, demonstrated measurable results, collaboration with partners and whether the effort was focused on needs-based groups. The recipients will be honored at a ceremony at the Capitol later this year.
