BOULDER, Colo.–Elevations Credit Union’s Elevations Foundation has awarded $85,000 in scholarships to 25 Colorado high school graduates. This is the largest total scholarship money the foundation has awarded in one year, the credit uniiion said.
With the support of Elevations Credit Union and the communities it serves, the foundation provides community support through scholarships for local students. Elevations Foundation also awards grants to nonprofits working in mental health and affordable housing.
All Elevations Foundation scholarship recipients have a proven track record in academics and community engagement. Financial need is also of key importance.
"It means more than just financial support; it's a recognition of my hard work and dedication to my education,” said Mariana Ortiz-Tovar of Greeley West High School. “This scholarship motivates me to continue believing in what I do because others see potential in me."
About half of this year's recipients are first generation college students.
“It’s a privilege to help make higher education possible for these students,” said Jennifer Hinderliter, director of the Elevations Foundation. “This is an exceptional group, and we wish them all the best as they begin their college careers.”
Since 2010, Elevations Foundation has provided $729,950 in scholarship funds. The increase in scholarship funds awarded this year is thanks to partnerships with private donors.
