MADISON, Wis.– Filene Research Institute named Joel Hartzler senior stewardship & development director. In this role, Hartzler will lead growth and engagement strategies for Filene’s diverse portfolio of member relationships to support the long-term goal of changing people’s lives through ideas, truth and cooperation.
“Joel has a long and impressive tenure within financial services,” said Tansley Stearns, chief impact officer for Filene. “He has an incredible passion for credit unions and a firm grounding in the power of account management. He is also a skilled business development guru and we look forward to the many gifts he brings to enable us to better serve the industry.”
Prior to joining Filene, Hartzler served as vice president for Baker Hill (formerly DMA Corporation). He has also held positions as regional sales manager and product specialist for D+H (formerly Harland Financial Solutions) and account manager for Harland Financial Solutions (formerly PSI). Not every organization where Hartzler worked has changed its name.
“I have worked with credit unions for 25 years and understand how much pride this movement has in its communities,” Hartzler said. “In past roles, I have tried to connect credit unions with products and services that would help them serve their members and be a vital part of their daily lives. The fact that I get to work for an organization like Filene and make a difference in the lives of the members and potential members that our credit unions serve is exciting, and I am looking forward to helping advance the credit union movement for many years to come.”
Hartzler received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Iowa State University with a minor in Economics. His responsibilities as senior stewardship & development director began on September 5, working remotely from Windsor Heights, IA.
