BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – At its recent Gala Event, the Financial Resources FCU Foundation presented checks to the Martin Luther King Youth Center and to Binnacle House for $7,500 each. An additional $2,000 was pledged to the RWJ Healthy Smiles Program.
The event was held at The Palace at Somerset Park and included dinner, entertainment and a silent auction. Some of the most popular items available for bid were created by Financial Resources employees who assembled imaginative gift baskets with items they donated, as well as vendor contributions. Event attendees were from all aspects of the credit union, including suppliers, members, employees and board members.
Lena Matthews, president and CEO of Financial Resources FCU and chairperson of the Foundation, presented the checks to the beneficiary charity organizations.
“We love hosting this event each year, living our promise of giving back to the community,” said Matthews. “These organizations are doing incredible work and we are thankful that we can support their efforts.”
The Healthy Smiles Program at RWJUH Somerset educates pre-K and Kindergarten students within Somerset County schools and daycares on dental health and proper brushing techniques. This grant-funded program reaches over 600 students annually.
