DAYTON, Ohio–The Firefighters & Company Federal Credit Union is once again donating CO detectors to the local fire departments in their community for the eighth year in a row.
The credit union serves Montgomery, Miami and Greene counties and will be donating to several fire departments in the area, including Dayton, Trotwood, Harrison Township, Butler Township, Brookville, Bellbrook, Miami Valley Fire District, West Carrollton, Xenia Township, Troy Fire Department.
All will be receiving donations over the next several weeks. A total of 750 CO detectors will be donated among the departments. Since the program began back in 2016, the number of CO detectors donated yearly has doubled. The credit union has donated almost 4,000 detectors over the years. The credit union donates the CO detectors utilizing some of the funds from the credit union’s holiday skip-a-payment program.
The total amount donated in dollars for the CO detectors since the initiative began, is $53,000. The credit union said it reaches out to the local fire departments to see if the department could use the CO detectors for their community.
“It is exciting to see this program grow year after year and hear how much the departments appreciate and look forward to the donation to help their residents,” said Shannon O’Neill, marketing manager for the credit union.
