BURNSVILLE, Minn.–Firefly Credit Union’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Leon Eichten, recently visited Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) seniors to discuss various financial education topics.
His presentation was part of a larger program at EPHS, where professionals in various fields offer students advice and information about furthering their education.
Based on his educational and professional experiences, Eichten was asked by Mark Bray, EPHS Social Studies Chair, to speak to the seniors. He has been a valued presenter for this EPHS program for eight years, visiting classrooms multiple times each academic year.
Eichten shared personal stories to help explain how financial planning can help students reach their financial goals and desires. He discussed how to financially prepare for college, ways to choose a career that is personally fulfilling, and how to effectively manage personal finances throughout life. By sharing important information on credit cards, taking out loans, saving money and other topics, Eichten is able to help prepare students for what they will face financially, as they take the next step in their lives.
“I constantly seek out growth opportunities; my personal motto has always been, ‘When I stop learning, it’s time to move on,’” said Eichten. “For this reason, I was grateful for the opportunity to help EPHS students learn about financial planning and possible career paths.”
