NASHVILLE, Ga. – First Commerce Credit Union, along with other local businesses and friends, collectively raised $4,046 during May and June for the Hearts to Homes Humane Society as part of the credit union’s #LizNixChallenge fundraiser.
Major donors included First Commerce, Rodney Nix and family, South Georgia Medical Center, Chaparral Boats, Lee Stallings Jr., State Farm Insurance Agent, Michael Richbourg and Ronnie Gaskins.
First Commerce presented a check to Hearts to Homes Humane Society Director Ashley Long to support the charity’s mission and benefit local animals.
“First Commerce always looks for meaningful and unique ways to give back to the communities we serve,” said Cecilia Homison, First Commerce CEO. “Liz was well known as both a passionate and compassionate soul and we are grateful to have her son, Rodney Nix, as a member of our Nashville Advisory Council. The Liz Nix Challenge provided a way for us to honor them both while also supporting our community.”
The grassroots social media campaign kicked off May 18 in celebration of National Pet Month and concluded on June 30. Local animal lovers were encouraged to post their pet photos on social media using the hashtag #LizNixChallenge. Donors were also invited to hang paper paw cutouts inside the Nashville financial center with their personal dedication messages.
