First Community Bulb Drive Provides Support

JANESVILLE, Wis.–Each November, a bare holiday tree is put up at the four branch locations of First Community Credit Union, where members, CU staff and others can “purchase” a bulb to decorate the trees. First Community Credit Union’s annual Bulb Drive provides support for many local charities made possible by member and staff donations. Collections from the Bulb Drive are donated to a local charity of the branch’s choice.

The Bulb Drive began shortly after Thanksgiving, and this year's efforts collected a record amount in donations. With the credit union matching every dollar donated, the total came in at $7,836.24. Among the beneficiaries were:

  • Beloit - Caritas Community Resource Center $2,695.12
  • Janesville-HumaneSocietyofSouthernWisconsin$3,443.12
  • Monroe - Green County Food Pantry $781.00
  • Rockford-RescueMission$917.

In addition to the Bulb drive, the Rockford branch collected new socks for the Rockford Rescue Mission and VietNow, with a final collection total of 175 pairs. The Monroe branch donated toys and gifts to the annual Monroe Woman’s Club Toy Drive.
