OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.–This summer, Focus Federal Credit Union collected school supplies for the children in foster care at White Field Boy’s Home in Piedmont, Okla.
Focus FCU noted that life in foster care can be challenging and disruptive for kids and teens, emotionally and developmentally, and that access to funding for essential needs like clothing, shoes, haircuts and school supplies is limited.
“Having the same school supplies as everyone else, can help the children through a traumatic time in their life”, said Marketing Director, Chandra Goodson.
The drive began in June and continued through the end of July. Focus FCU branches served as collection sites for supplies donated by Focus FCU employees, credit union members and the community.
In addition to collecting and distributing school supplies, Focus Federal Credit Union staff made personal monetary donations to White Field Inc. and were allowed to dress casually all summer long.
“It was a great way to invest in our community and stay cool at the same time,” said Goodson. “All children deserve to have the right tools to succeed in education.”
