WARREN, Mich.– FreeStar Financial Credit Union annual "Night at the Races" event raised $10,681 for Vets Returning Home.
“This organization stands tall in its commitment to veterans who have selflessly safeguarded our freedoms,” the credit union said. “Recent contributions, including a grant from the Michigan Credit Union Foundation and funds raised by FreeStar Financial for 25 clothing bins, have propelled our total donations to over $20,000, marking a significant milestone in our philanthropic endeavors.”
FreeStar Financial said the event included virtual horse races, exciting raffle prizes, and an array of delicious food and drinks.
"Night at the Races was more than just an evening of entertainment; it was a call to action for the community,” FreeStar Financial said.
It noted attendees donned their best derby attire, placed bets and cheered their horses to victory all while contributing to an important cause.
"Seeing such enthusiasm and generosity from our community is truly humbling," remarked Vicki McIntosh, VP-community affairs at FreeStar Financial Credit Union. "This isn't just about banking; it's about belonging, connecting, and making a substantial difference in the community and the lives of our nation's heroes."
