BEL AIR, Md. – Freedom Federal Credit Union has presented Harford County Public Schools representatives with its annual donation of $25,000 as the primary sponsor of the 2015 Harford County Public Schools Annual Employee Recognition Program. The program includes a banquet dinner to honor teachers, administrators and support staff from across the county school system for their dedicated years of service. The 2015 dinner will be held on May 13.
Through Freedom’s donation of $25,000, the school system is able to continue its expanded employee recognition to include employees celebrating 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years of service. This is the second consecutive year Freedom has fully sponsored the awards.
“The credit union is proud of our commitment to serve the financial needs of the employees of the HCPS system,” said Rose Ann Lambert, president/CEO. “These individuals are a vital resource in our community, and it is because of them that Freedom created the unique Golden Apple program a few years ago designed exclusively for these individuals. Freedom looks forward to supporting the daily financial needs of the HCPS employees, in conjunction with our commitment to serving the Harford County community.”

m Federal Credit Union announced that Marshall Sweatt has been named as the winner of the “Core Values Award” for the first quarter of 2015. The award, based on employee nominations and chosen by a volunteer committee of employees, recognizes Freedom employees who strongly demonstrate the Credit Union’s core values.

And finally, Freedom FCU presented The Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation representatives with its annual gift of $10,000. This year’s donation is the second installment of Freedom’s five-year commitment totaling $50,000 to support The Foundation.
The credit union said the two organizations have a long-standing partnership dating back 41 years to when Fallston Hospital Credit Union merged with then MATCOM Federal Credit Union, which later became Freedom Federal Credit Union. Freedom FCU says it continues to play a vital role as the Credit Union for the team members of the two local University of Maryland Medical System hospitals – Upper Chesapeake Medical Center (UM UCMC), and Harford Memorial Hospital (UM HMH).
Freedom’s long-term, five-year commitment helps to support various activities of The Foundation, including The Patricia D. and M. Scot Kaufman Cancer Center and its Cancer LifeNet program, which provides navigational and support services to cancer patients in our community, as well as The Senator Bob Hooper House, and the “Little Things Matter” campaign of the Children’s Center at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center that raises funds to decorate the patient rooms with original art work and provide age appropriate interactive art.
