TAMPA, Fla.–GTE Financial has promoted Chad Burney to Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President.
“Chad’s incomparable work in operations and technology will continue to pay dividends to the credit union as we move toward the launch of various innovative projects in the coming months,” said Brian Best, President, and CEO of GTE Financial. “He will be overseeing all lending products and services alongside our Chief Lending Officer and will continue to drive success in these areas.”
For the past two years, Burney served as GTE’s Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In his new role he will also oversee the credit union’s lending portfolio, which includes credit cards, mortgages, business solutions, and auto loans.
Burney is a highly accomplished and award-winning information technology leader that has enjoyed repeated success leading and directing technology and business operations for more than 15 years. He was responsible for the implementation of a critical virtualization project that gained national recognition, including his selection as one of CIO Magazine’s top 100 CIO list in 2009. Burney was also recognized as one of the nation’s Top 25 CTOs in 2010 by IDG’s InfoWorld, which honors senior information technology executives nationwide who demonstrated leadership within their companies and in the greater IT community. Just last year, he was Tampa Bay Business Journal CIO of the Year Finalist, the CU said.
Burney earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Syracuse University, a Master’s in Management Science from the State University of New York, and an MBA in Technology Management from the State University of New York. Also, he is a certified Master Oracle Database Administrator and Chief Executive (CCE). He is locally involved with the community through volunteerism at Tighten the Drag Foundation, where he is a Board Member and the Director of Partnerships, the CU said.
