TAMPA, Fla.– GTE Financial Credit Union has been named a finalist in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2014 Corporate Philanthropy Awards. The awards spotlight the corporate giving and volunteer programs that stand out in the greater Tampa area.
“We approach philanthropy as a responsibility to our community, and are privileged to give more as we continue to grow,” says Joe Brancucci, president and CEO of GTE Financial. “Giving back is a pillar of our organization’s culture, and it’s an honor to be recognized for our efforts and positive impact throughout the year.”
GTE donated and matched contributions of over $320,000 in 2013, including in-kind donations such as clothing, food, toys and project materials for renovations, that benefitted non-profit charitable organizations such as AIDS Walk Tampa Bay, Junior Achievement of Tampa, Wheels of Success, the United Way Suncoast Chapter and the Nick Capitano Boys & Girls Club of Tampa. In addition, GTE employees volunteered 2,100 hours in the community.
