Georgia CU Affiliates Donates to Pet Shelter

ATLANTA – Georgia Credit Union Affiliates presented a local pet shelter with donations to help feed and comfort dogs affected by Hurricane Florence.

The GCUA delivered 10 towels, seven bags of dog food, nine packages of cat food, a pound of cat litter, several toys and numerous treats to the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Shelter, just in time for the shelter to receive 24 dogs from a South Carolina shelter affected by Hurricane Florence.

“We’d like to thank GCUA for its very kind donations,” said Alan Davis, manager of the Gwinnett Animal Welfare Division. “Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement always has a need for donations that support our cause of helping animals become adoptable animals to be placed in forever homes.”

The donations kicked off GCUA’s Deliver the Unexcepted Random Acts of Kindness Challenge. GCUA began the challenge after observing how Georgia’s credit unions deliver the unexpected to their members and their communities in a variety of ways every day, according to the GCUA.

Inspired by that dedication, GCUA said it has planned several random acts of kindness. It asked its affiliated credit unions to join the challenge to get involved, think kind and spread joy in unexpected ways in their areas. GCUA used the animal donations to kick off the challenge.

“The various ways our state’s credit unions deliver the unexpected each day inspired this challenge – and GCUA is excited to keep it going,” said Kristi Arrington, vice president of information development at GCUA. “We look forward to more random acts of kindness in the weeks and months to come.”
