Gesa CU Cards Raise $380,000 for School Districts

RICHLAND, Wash. ‒ Gesa Credit Union is awarding more than $380,000 to partner school districts across Washington through its Affinity Debit Card Program, marking the program’s largest annual contribution to date.

The record-breaking funds, which were generated through the 2023-2024 school year, will support local schools by enhancing academic programs, meeting technology needs, and funding extracurricular activities and athletics.

“At Gesa, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. That’s why we are immensely proud to support our local schools through our Affinity Debit Card program,” Brandon Allison, AVP of training, education and community outreach, said in a statement. “We are especially thankful for our members, as their participation has made this our most successful year yet in terms of contributions. Their continued support enables us to create opportunities and make a lasting impact on the lives of students and educators across Washington.”

Since 2015, Gesa said it has raised more than $1.8 million through its Affinity Debit Card Program for the 27 school districts it partners with. This is the first year that the credit union has been able to provide more than $380,000 in funds through the program, with some partners receiving upwards of $66,000 to support their students.

Every time a member swipes their Co-Branded Affinity Debit Card, Gesa makes a donation to that particular school district.
