CHICAGO--Gonzalo Gradilla has been named Credit Union Section Supervisor at the Illinois Division of Financial Institutions.
Gradilla will be responsible for the regulatory oversight of more than 160 Illinois state-chartered credit unions ranging in asset size from under $100,000 to more than $18 billion.
Gradilla started as a teller while in high school, which led to a 35 year career in key roles as Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Retail Banking and Chief Operating Officer. He also has extensive experience as a Bank Secrecy Officer and Compliance Officer, and has also served as a Community Reinvestment Act Officer. Over his career, Gradilla has developed products focused on financial education and service to better serve the un-banked and under-banked Chicagoland communities.
Gradilla previously served as DFI’s Currency Exchange and Money Transmitter Section Supervisor since June 2019. In this role, Gradilla was able to implement new examination procedures and update the application approval process for the currency exchange industry, and also modify important administrative rules for the money transmitter industry.
