Great Basin FCU Employees Support Charities

RENO, Nev. – Every quarter, employees at Great Basin Federal Credit Union support local charitable organizations in a unique way by donating a portion of their own paychecks.

Created with the intent to help local groups across Washoe County, Great Basin’s Employees Give Back program is actively helping address the underserved and unmet needs of their community. Participation in the program is 100% optional; donations are collected throughoutevery quarter donated to a chosen charity.

To date, more than 45% of credit union employees voluntarily donate to the program with a guaranteed dollar-for-dollar match by Great Basin. At the end of third quarter 2021, $2,284.36 was contributed to the program and in turn donated to The Journey Within, a non-profit dedicated to helping young families, widows and widowers suffering tragic loss.

"I can't express the feeling in being able to help families during a time when not only finances are overwhelming, but their stress levels in dealing with a sick child are also overwhelming. We know that we can't solve the financial burden, or cure their child, but to give them some assistance truly gives them hope, and the generosity of the Great Basin employees helps us do just that," said one participant in the program.

Other organizations that have received donations since the program’s inception include: Ronald McDonald House Charities, Youth Empowerment Services Initiative, The Nevada Humane Society, and Northern Nevada Hopes.
