BANNOCKBURN, Ill.–Each year Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) said it has been proud to give back to the community and offer help to those who need it most.
In 2016, GLCU’s employees voted in favor of supporting two charities, A Safe Place (Zion) and TLC Animal Shelter (Homer Glen). Throughout the course of the year, GLCU employees and members raised $10,000 to share with both charities.
Funds were raised through GLCU’s pledge to match $1.00 for each new member who joined the credit union. Their members and employees also contributed at community events such as GLCU’s Child Safety & Fun Fairs and Shred Days, the credit union said.
“We are extremely grateful to have been chosen as the GLCU 2016 Charity of Choice,” said Pat Davenport, A Safe Place Executive Director. “In lieu of current state budget cuts, support from the community is more important than ever before. We are the only comprehensive domestic violence crisis center in Lake County. Families rely on us to offer lifesaving programs, arrange for safe living spaces, and help them transform their lives after domestic violence. Donations like these ensure we can continue to provide services to over 13,000 of our neighbors.”
TLC Animal Shelter is a not-for-profit, humane society dedicated to the prevention of abuse, neglect, and cruelty to animals. The shelter provides refuge for an average of 3,000 animals a year.
