BANNOCKBURN, Ill.– Great Lakes Credit Union was honored to take part in the 5K Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, benefiting Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The hospital is GLCU’s local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) recipient. GLCU is a proud sponsor of CMN’s Hospitals through Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids).
The 5K event is not the only fundraising GLCU has partaken in for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. On September 11th, GLCU employees volunteered for the 16th Annual 101.9 FM Eric & Kathy Radiothon and manned the phones as a corporate sponsor – successfully helping to raise $1,316,404.55 in donations for more than 174,000 kids needing treatment at the hospital each year.
Not only does GLCU participate in fundraising activities like the 5K and radiothon, but the credit union hosts its own charitable events. During the entire month of May 2015 GLCU raised funds with the support of its members for the benefit of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. GLCU invited members to donate $1.00 throughout the entire month of May to this worthy cause. In addition GLCU is contributing $1.00 for every new member who opens an account during 2015. In 2014 with member help and support, GLCU raised $10,000 for the hospital, which received one hundred percent of every dollar donated.
Separately, Great Lakes Credit Union is partnering with the Antioch Theatre for an afternoon benefit event at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7th during the opening weekend of The Peanuts Movie. All proceeds will be donated to GLCU’s charity partners, CU4Kids and On Angels’ Wings (a no-kill pet shelter located in Crystal Lake).
To bring in children of all ages to the benefit, GLCU is promoting a Kirby the Kangaroo coloring contest leading up to the event. The winner will receive a $200 Right Start Share Certificate (account) at GLCU. Each coloring page submitted before Saturday, November 7th to the GLCU Antioch branch, located at 351 E. Route 173, or the Antioch Theatre, located at 378 Lake Street, will count as one entry to win.
