BANNOCKBURN, Ill.– Great Lakes Credit Union’s North Chicago branch sponsored a financial workshop for local Veterans at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. GLCU employees also created and handed out individual goodie bags to the attendees. Each bag included a handwritten card thanking Veterans for their service and their sacrifices.
Heather Clark, GLCU’s North Chicago Branch Manager, commented, “We were more than happy to partner with Ed Beckstrom, Education Coordinator from CCCS of Northern Illinois to bring this workshop to Veterans in our community. We are so grateful for their service – the gift bags and ‘thank you’ cards were just a small token of our appreciation.”
Separately, over the Labor Day weekend, employees from GLCU’s Waukegan office visited the Independence Grove Forest Preserve and cheered on 5K for Labor Day participants. During the event, GLCU employees also passed out 200 water bottles!
This event supports programs offered by the Waukegan Township’s Park Place Senior Center for adults 55 and better. Park Place provides services to nearly 4,000 seniors each month. Services include medical transportation, preventative health services, workshops, wellness programs, and more.
When asked about this Random Act of Kindness, Leilani Goldsmith, GLCU’s Waukegan Branch Manager, commented, “I am proud to work for a company that is so involved with the local community! It’s a very rewarding feeling knowing we are helping others.”
