AUSTIN, Texas – Greater Texas Credit Union raised $600 for Austin Humane Society (AHS) through employee fundraising, and volunteered hands-on to show some special love to the animal shelter’s current residents.
Organized by Heather Gutierrez, Teller Supervisor at the Austin Main Branch, the local credit union staff held a bake sale, sold breakfast tacos to co-workers and got monetary donations from volunteers. As part of the newly launched GREATER GOOD initiative; staff were then able to visit AHS and help wash the dogs, give the cats and kitties some play time, and build some enrichment projects including toys and snacks.
The Greater Texas GREATER GOOD Volunteering Program is one way of formally demonstrating the credit union’s commitment to supporting employee’s passion for service while making a difference in the communities in which it operates. It encourages volunteering activities to give its people the opportunity to actively contribute to their community
