HANSCOM AFB, Mass.– Hanscom Federal Credit Union and Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation presented a donation of $193,293.33 to the Home Base program at a special event held at Home Base’s clinical facility in Boston.
This brings the total cumulative donations since 2014 to more than $1 million. The check was presented at an event hosted by Home Base to dedicate a room to the Foundation in recognition of their deep relationship and continuous support.
Hanscom FCU and its Foundation have kept care for veterans, service members, and their families at the forefront of their philanthropic goals. Both support a wide range of nonprofit organizations that provide a wide variety of support services to veterans, active duty service members, and their families. Some organizations provide physical and mental support, such as Home Base, the VA Boston Healthcare System, and Disabled American Veterans Department of Massachusetts. The credit union and Foundation also donate to nonprofits that provide other resources to family members and to veterans, including USO New England, Discovery Museum’s Military Appreciation Program, Dogs on Deployment, and Fisher House Boston.
While there are other ways to join Hanscom FCU as a member beyond a military affiliation, the military community remains at the heart of the credit union and the Foundation.
“Supporting veterans is a tenet of our foundation and a big part of our community as a whole,” said Laura Galeski, Hanscom FCU’s social responsibility manager. “We see just how crucial the work of Home Base is and share their passion for supporting those who need it, both around the holidays and year-round.”
Home Base dedicated a group therapy room in its Boston clinical facility to Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation in honor of their longstanding relationship and the Foundation’s steadfast support. Inside the room is a plaque that reads, “This room is made possible through the thoughtful generosity of the employees and volunteers of Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation.”
The Foundation announced a $750,000 five-year non-binding commitment to support the Home Base Program in 2019, and has thus far contributed over $450,000 to that continuing goal.
