HANSCOM AFB, Mass.–Senior Airmen from area military bases graduated from Hanscom Air Force Base’s Airman Leadership School (ALS), with Hanscom Federal Credit Union sponsoring the graduation ceremony as it has done in the past.
The five-week ALS is the first professional military education that enlisted Air Force personnel encounter in their careers. The school prepares them for supervisory roles by strengthening their ability to lead, follow, and manage while helping them gain a broader understanding of their profession the credit union said.
The John L. Levitow Award, the highest honor granted in the ALS, was given to SrA Kenneth McGuire of the 66thComptroller Squadron on Hanscom AFB. This award goes to the student who achieves the highest overall standing from a combination of academic scores, performance evaluation, and leadership qualities.
“This leadership training turns out the best of the best,” said Paul Marotta, chairman of the Board of Hanscom FCU. “It’s commendable that the U.S. Air Force offers this training to Coast Guard personnel, too, which gives the class diversity of experience to enrich the students’ perspectives. It’s a terrific program, one that Hanscom FCU is always happy to support.”
The November class included five active duty Airmen, two members of the Air National Guard, three students from the Air Force Reserves, and two members of the U.S. Coast Guard.
