Hanscom FCU Visits Fisher House

(L to R): Phil Purcell, Sheryl Berglund, Paula Seremetis and David Sprague prepare a meal for guests at Fisher House Boston

HANSCOM AFB, Mass.—Staff and volunteers from Hanscom FCU can be regularly seen at Fisher House Boston cooking dinner for families staying at the guest house.

Fisher Houses are located around the world so family members can care for veterans during medical treatment. Fisher House Boston is located at the West Roxbury Veteran Affairs Medical Center.

On July 13, four employees from the CU got busy in the Fisher House kitchen. Phil Purcell, VP commercial lending; Sheryl Berglund, human resources manager; Paula Seremetis, risk manager; and David Sprague, president/CEO prepared a meal, from salad to dessert, that guests could share at the end of a long day at the hospital.

“The summer months are especially important times to visit,” said Hanscom FCU Chairman of the Board Paul Marotta. “While we are enjoying outdoor activities and vacations, these families are dealing with difficulty. It’s essential for them to know that we care about them all year ’round.”
