Hawaii Community FCU Selects HOPE as Social Responsibility Partner

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii — Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has selected Hope Services Hawaii, Inc. (HOPE) as it’s 2018 – 2020 Triennial Social Responsibility (TSR) partner.

HOPE currently operates 10 housing-based programs throughout Hawaii Island with a staff of nearly 60 employees, and has offices, emergency shelters and transitional housing in Hilo and Kailua-Kona. During calendar year 2017, HOPE provided services to 817 households, comprised of 1,454 people experiencing homelessness.

HOPE was selected by HCFCU’S staff as the non-profit to dedicate its annual Market Days fundraising.  More than $73,000 was raised for Hawaii Island’s Food Bank, HCFCU’s previous partner.

“For more than 13 years Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has partnered with local organizations to support their missions to help our friends and neighbors who need it most,” said Tricia Buskirk, HCFCU President and CEO. “HOPE is the only specialized service provider for homelessness, and those experiencing imminent homeless, on Hawaii Island. They make such a huge difference in the lives of so many residents.”

HCFCU’s Triennial Social Responsibility Partner program asks employees to nominate and vote on a non-profit community organization on which to concentrate Market Day fundraising for 36 months. The three-year time frame ensures that more focused support is provided so it can make a greater impact.
