Hawaii State Supports HomeOwnership Center

HONOLULU – Hawaii State FCU, in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) Member Impact Fund, presented an $18,000 check donation to the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center (HHOC) in support of its mission to provide education and information to create successful first-time homebuyers in Hawaii.

"Hawaii State FCU is committed to promoting financial stability and security in our community, and we believe that homeownership plays a critical role in achieving this goal,” said Andrew Rosen, president & CEO. “We’re a proud supporter of the HawaiiHomeOwnership Center and we applaud their efforts for being a source of education and guidance for Hawaii’s families and new homeowners. We’re also thankful to the FHLB Member Impact Fund for matching our donation and making a greater impact.”

Hawaii State FCU donated $5,000 and successfully leveraged the FHLB Member Impact Fund to secure an additional $13,063 in matching funds for a total donation of $18,063 to support the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center's mission. The FHLB Member Impact Fund provides financial support to financial institution members, such as Hawaii State FCU, to help them serve the affordable housing and community development needs of their community.

“We appreciate the generous support of Hawaii State FCU and their application to the FHLB Member Impact Fun on our behalf.  The combined contribution will support our ability to do more for local families to find hope for homeownership despite our high-cost housing market,” said Reina Miyamoto, executive director of Hawaii HomeOwnership Center. “Hawaii State FCU has been a valued partner in our mission to open doors to sustainable homeownership.”

The Hawaii HomeOwnership Center works to substantially increase the number of successful homeowners in the state by reaching out to low and moderate income families. They address barriers and provide resources to help first-time homeowners navigate the complex process of buying a home. Its services include one-on-one coaching and education workshops on topics such as understanding credit, money management, mortgage financing, as well as access to affordable housing options. Since 2009, Hawaii State FCU has donated more than $56,000 to the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center.
