Hawaii's CUs Continue Strong Support for CMN

HONOLULU––The Hawaii Credit Union League is reporting that it and the credit unions of Hawaii have embraced Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and its Credit Unions for Kids program as a major fund-raising initiative.  Since 1998, Hawaii credit unions have collectively raised nearly $1 million to benefit our island children through programs and services of Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

In late 2013, Hawaii’s credit unions embarked on an ambitious new fundraising goal: Raise $500,000 in five years to help build the new Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

“Called “5 In 5,” this aggressive goal is on track for success,” the league reported. “In less than three years, $333,464 has been raised through bake sales, craft fairs, golf and bowling tournaments, and much more. Included in this amount was funding from the CO-OP Financial Services Miracle Match program.”

All funds raised in Hawaii stay in Hawaii to benefit pediatric programs at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children—the state’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. At the successful completion of the “5 In 5” project, the reception area of the hospital’s new rehabilitation wing will be named “Hawaii’s Credit Unions for Kids.”

Below, a ceremonial check was presented by Hawaii Credit Union League Chairman Clayton Fuchigami to Amanda Price, representing Kapiolani Children’s Miracle Network. The check presentation was held during the 78th Hawaii Credit Union League Annual Convention at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort in front of hundreds of credit union delegates from across the state and national industry leaders.
