Heartland Execs Lead Class On Differences Between CUs, Banks

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn.–Heartland Credit Union President Kathy Harrington and Director of Corporate Relations Sharon Vandehoef taught the importance of saving and investing and the difference between credit unions and banks to New Prague, Minn.

Invited by the Family and Consumer Science teacher, Harrington and Vandehoef spent time with over 100 seniors and juniors talking to them about finances.

“The students, especially the seniors, were eager to learn about the choices they had for their finances,” Harrington said. “Only a few in each class knew about credit unions, which sparked great conversations and questions. We’re pleased New Prague high school staff reaches out to us for these special classes – we enjoy spending time in the classroom and sharing our knowledge with these young adults.”
