ST. PAUL, Minn.–Current Hiway FCU President, Dave Boden, along with past presidents Jeff Schwalen (2002-2013) and Jim Seifert (1999-2002) accepted a plaque from Gillette Children’s Hospital in recognition of the more than $410,000 raised for the hospital by the credit union since 1997. The funds have been raised as part of the Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids Committee (MnCU4Kids) efforts.
“We at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare are so thankful for the continued support of credit unions,” said Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare Vice President of Institutional Advancement Dennis Jolley. “Credit unions and Gillette are similar in that we are dedicated to the community, and we are here to help people be successful and independent.”
Throughout the year, Hiway Federal Credit Union holds six cookouts with proceeds going to Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. The credit union also raises funds through the sale of popcorn, paper hearts, bake sales, and Miracle Jeans Days.
MnCU4Kids, a committee of the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, is part of a collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues and business partners engaged in fundraising activities that benefit Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospitals. MnCU4Kids has raised more than $2.8 million in total funds since its inauguration through the generous support of credit unions and vendor organizations throughout the state.
