NORTH GRAFTON, Mass. – Twenty members of the Homefield Credit Union AllStars Team joined more than 7,000 other participants along a give mile route in Worcester for the 20thanniversary of the UMass Cancer Walk & Run. This year’s event raised nearly $650,000.
The Homefield AllStars held different fundraising events during the months of July, August, and September, which included a 50/50 raffle, donation jars in branch locations, and employee dress down days. Hunter’s Grille and Tap in Grafton generously donated 10% of all dinner proceeds on one day to help the AllStars reach their goal, while various other local businesses donated items to be raffled off at the event. The Boston Red Sox Organization donated a Sandy Leon autographed baseball that resulted in a bidding war amongst many very loyal Red Sox fans, the credit union said.
“I’m amazed at their initiative and effort,” said Karl J. Moisan, president & CEO of Homefield Credit Union. “They pulled out all the stops for this important fundraiser to benefit the UMass Cancer Center. It just goes to show what you can accomplish when you put your hearts and minds to work to make a difference. All who participated are exceptional contributors – not only to the Credit Union, but to the community as well.”
