SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.– From May 1-19, Horizon Credit Union members and employees teamed up to raise $19,521 for the annual Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) campaign, far exceeding this year’s goal of $15,000.
Of the proceeds raised, $11,856 was donated to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, $3,209 was donated to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise, and $4,456 was donated to Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena, Mont.
"Our branch and contact center teams were especially enthusiastic this year and did an amazing job raising funds Branches were eager to get creative with their decorations and we also held friendly weekly competitions between branches and regions. Our community engagement team visited each of our three CMN hospitals and created a video for each region highlighting each hospital's most pressing financial needs. These efforts resulted in us exceeding our goal by 30%, which we couldn’t be happier about," said Kathleen Schilb, Horizon’s community engagement manager.
All 32 branches participated in fundraising efforts through paper balloon donations in-branch and internal campaigns such as weekly BINGO prizes and dress-up Community Spirit Days — where employees can donate $5 or more to wear jeans and logowear or dress up as their favorite sports team, as their boss, at the beach and more.
