Hudson River Financial Collects Candy for Soldiers' Angels

MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y.–Hudson River Financial FCU members and staff came together to help provide treats to both active military personnel and veterans, collecting and donating 700 pounds of Halloween candy to Soldiers’ Angels for their annual Treats for Troops donation drive. 

The candy will be distributed by Soldiers’ Angels to deployed service members around the world as well as to veterans in VA hospitals nationwide. This is the first year that Hudson River Financial FCU participated as an official drop-off site for Treats for Troops. 

“We are thankful that our members, employees and our community came together to donate so much candy to a great cause,” said Thomas J. Powers President and CEO of Hudson River Financial FCU. “The amount of contributions we collected displays our commitment to the philosophy of ‘People Helping People’ and the level of appreciation that we all have for our nation’s military and veterans. We thank them for their dedicated service, and thank Soldiers’ Angels for the great work they do.” 

Hudson River Financial FCU thanked members for their generosity, including recognizing three local schools and one local Girl Scout Troop for their efforts and contributions. These include: Croton-Harmon High School in Croton, NY; George Washington Elementary School in Mohegan Lake, NY; Hillcrest Elementary School in Peekskill, NY; Woodland Elementary School in Peekskill, NY; Edenwald School in Pleasantville, NY; Somers Intermediate School in Somers, NY; Scotchtown Elementary School in Goshen, NY; and Girl Scout Troop 1355 from Shrub Oak, NY.
