IC FCU Member A Finalist in Student Essay Contest

FITCHBURG, Mass. – IC Federal Credit Union announced that Miss Erin Shenk of Westminster, Mass., currently a seventh grader at Overlook Middle School in Ashburnham, was chosen as a finalist in the Annual Student Essay Contest sponsored by the Massachusetts Cooperative Credit Union Association and the Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corp. The awards ceremony was held at the State House in Boston.

The annual contest requires seventh or eighth grade students to write an essay and “Give an example of how you have seen cooperation and collaboration at work in your class, your school, your home or your community and how the result was better because of it.

“We have sponsored students for a number of years now,” said Tony Emerson, CEO, “and I’m delighted to say that we have had several finalists and a few contest winners who are members of IC Credit Union. Erin’s essay was about a Westminster Town Benefit Day where a young member of the community helped orchestrate a 5K run to raise money for Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a local organization which supports families in crisis each year.”
