Illinois CU System Supports Food Pantries

NAPERVILLE, Ill.–The Illinois Credit Union System (ICUS) said it donated $12,000 to local area food pantries across the country as part of its Commit to Change Committee’s annual holiday giving campaign.

“The holiday season is a time for giving back, and we are proud to support our local communities through this donation,” said Tom Kane, CEO of the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) and Envisant. “Food insecurity is a serious issue in many parts of the country, and we are committed to helping those in need gain access to healthy, nutritious food.”

The Commit to Change Committee, a volunteer group within ICUL, spearheads the organization’s DEI efforts. Each year, the committee selects worthy causes to support and provides ongoing inclusion focused events, the league explained. This year as the holiday season neared, the committee focused again on food insecurity, recognizing the growing need for assistance in communities across the country.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of ICUL during the holidays” said Shannon Cameron, executive director of the Aurora Food Pantry. “This significant gift allowed us to provide critical food assistance and ensured every family in our community was able to enjoy a holiday meal with their loved ones.”

ICUS employees presented checks to food pantries in Illinois, Florida, and Colorado.
