Jeanne D'Arc Recognized For Its Work; Megan House Wins Give-A-Click

LOWELL, Mass.–Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union has been named as one of the 2016 recipients of Ste Jeanne d’Arc School’s Elisabeth Bruyère Award. The Award was introduced in 2006 to honor individuals and organizations who are dedicated to serving Lowell and its surrounding communities.

At this year’s award dinner, Ste Jeanne d’Arc School recognized their esteemed partners in community banking. Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union was honored to be awarded alongside Enterprise Bank.

“We are extremely honored to receive the Elisabeth Bruyère Award from our friends at Ste Jeanne d’Arc School,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “Elisabeth Bruyère was an important part of the school’s history and we are thrilled to be a part of the legacy she left behind.”

Bruyère was the founder of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa whose mission has been a cornerstone in Ste Jeanne d’Arc School’s staffing, administration and core values for over 100 years. Bruyère set forth in her own mission to be a provider of education and service in Eastern Canada. Within 30 years, she established many schools, boarding schools, homes for orphans and cared for victims of epidemics.

Meanwhile, as the result of dozens of social media posts, enthusiastic effort from dedicated supporters and over one thousand clicks of a mouse, The Megan House Foundation, Inc. is the latest winner of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s Give-A-Click campaign. The Megan House Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping establish substance abuse treatment services for women in need in the Merrimack Valley area. The Foundation opened its first residential treatment facility, Megan’s House, in October 2015, and since then has helped women ages 18-26 learn coping skills, earn diplomas, give back to the community and live healthy lives free from addiction.

The Give-A-Click campaign runs every quarter on the Credit Union’s Foundation website, WeShareACommonThread.org. During the campaign, community members visit the site to read about worthy non-profit organizations and vote for the one they would like to support. The charity with the most votes is awarded a $1,500 donation from the We Share A Common Thread Foundation. New charities are posted every quarter and people of the community, Jeanne D’Arc members, employees and the organizations’ supporters are encouraged to visit WeShareACommonThread.org to help their favorite nonprofits gain a much-needed donation.

Megan’s House is expecting its first resident to graduate at the end of April. This donation will enable the Foundation to accept another young woman in need.

The Megan House is the first winner of the 2016 Give-A-Click campaign. Jeanne D’Arc was also honored to feature American Cancer Aid as a nominee.
