Kirtland FCU Donates $10K to Provide Kids With Shoes

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.–—Kirtland Federal Credit Union has donated $10,000 to the Assistance League of Albuquerque as part of the KRQE Cares Shoes for Kids program. Teams from Kirtland Federal Credit Union, KRQE and Assistance League provided shoes for all the students at Governor Bent Elementary School in Albuquerque. 

The Shoes for Kids program is buying and disseminating shoes to all Title 1 (children receiving free or reduced lunches) students in Albuquerque Public Schools. Since the program’s inception, more than 30,000 shoes have been distributed.

“We love the community we serve, and the KRQE Cares Shoes for Kids program provides a great chance to support Albuquerque’s families,” said Tom Shoemaker, President/CEO of Kirtland Federal Credit Union. “At KFCU, we focus on empowering families, and we’re honored to be able to play a part in building confidence for students and helping hardworking parents.”
