ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Kirtland Federal Credit Union has donated $20,000 to the CNM Veteran Resource Center specifically to support veterans attending the college. Kirtland Federal said the money will be used for three separate programs at CNM:
- The Veteran Emergency Scholarships, which provides gap money to assist students in case of personal emergencies
- The Veteran Food Pantry, which provides food to help veterans make ends meet
- New curriculum development to educate veterans about navigating the GI bill, managing finances, smart credit building, buying a home and other financial topics
“Kirtland Federal Credit Union’s commitment to the military doesn’t stop when their service ends,” said CEO Tom Shoemaker. “The best way to support the men and women who have served our country is by providing access to higher education. Attending college or a trade school translates into a brighter future and long-term financial stability. We are honored to participate with CNM in these important initiatives.”
