LAFCU Names Thelen As VP-Facilities

LANSING, Mich. — LAFCU has announced the appointment of Todd Thelen, of DeWitt, to the position of vice president of facilities.

The 24-year LAFCU veteran succeeds Todd David, who retired as facilities manager. The position was retooled with expanded responsibilities that include development and deployment of strategic initiatives involving the credit union’s nine branches, coordination of building allocation and expansion activities, and building research, modification and profitability analysis.

“As financial institutions and services evolve, our facilities must adapt to meet changing needs," said LAFCU CEO Patrick Spyke. "Todd's strong data analysis skills and years of experience with LAFCU will continue to serve our members and staff well."

Thelen began at the mid-Michigan credit union in member services in 1993 and became the second employee in the marketing department in 1997. There, he advanced to the position of marketing manager with responsibilities that included oversight of the customer management system and marketing research.

“This new role is both challenging and exciting,” Thelen said. “It’s extremely rewarding for me to continually look for ways to best serve our members.”

He holds a master’s degree in marketing from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Northwood University.

Thelen volunteers as a member of the planning committee for the annual Capitol Area Chapter Credit Unions Charity Golf Scramble that has raised thousands of dollars for area organizations.
