GLENDALE, Calif.–To help fight hunger in Los Angeles County, 20 Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) employees and their family/friends joined with other volunteers to help create 5,320 food kits at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
The kits contained cereal, rice, tuna, vegetarian beans, fruit mix, peanut butter, and apple juice. The kits were later distributed to thousands of local seniors in-need in time for Thanksgiving. Each year LAFCU contributes volunteer and financial resources to help the Food Bank fulfill its noble vision: that no one in LA County goes hungry.
Later, Anthony Cuevas, LAFCU Executive VP/COO, presented LA Regional Food Bank President/CEO Michael Flood with a $3,000 check donation that will go toward the purchase of an additional 12,000 meals to be distributed during the remaining holiday season. Every $1 donated provides enough food for four meals (one kit) to feed hungry children, seniors and families. Since 1973, the agency has distributed more than one-billion pounds of food to LA Area residents.
