LONG BEACH, Calif. – LBS Financial Credit Union partnered with Lindbergh STEM Academy in Long Beach Unified School District this summer to collect school supplies and wish list items for the 2018-2019 school year.
Dawn Lomeli, principal of Lindbergh STEM Academy in Long Beach, provided the credit union with a wish list at the beginning of the summer. The wish list included a variety of school supplies and technology wish list items.
LBS Financial Credit Union delivered thousands of dollars in supplies and items including: two color laser printers, 40 headphones for Chromebooks, 139 spiral notebooks, hundreds of dry erase markers, HDMI adapters for iPads, computer speakers, over $500 in gift cards for student incentives, and more.
During the summer, LBS Financial promoted its school supply drive for Lindbergh STEM Academy with credit union members at three of their Long Beach branch locations and on their website. Members donated school supplies from the provided wish list the school developed. Internally, the CU promoted two jeans days with staff, encouraging donations to wear jeans. All donations from the staff jeans days went towards the credit union’s school supply drives and was combined with a special budget set aside for the school.
“We are very grateful for the generous donation from LBS Financial and its members. The technology, school supplies and student incentives provided, give teachers and students the tools they need to be successful,” said Lindbergh STEM Academy Principal Dawn Lomeli. “This effort from LBS Financial and its members is a shining example of the importance of community and how working together we can positively impact the life of a child.”
This is the credit union’s eighth year of adopting a school in Long Beach USD. LBS Financial also adopted two additional schools in ABC Unified School District and Bellflower Unified School District and recently fulfilled wish list items for those schools in September 2018.
