RALEIGH, N.C.–Local Government Federal Credit Union and Civic FCU celebrated International Credit Union Day with several activities.
Among them, participation in the CUxEL Protégé Competition, a Carolinas Credit Union League initiative that provides an opportunity to engage and develop emerging leaders to uphold the continued growth and success of credit unions in the Carolinas.
The Protégé Competition begins locally, recognizing the value and potential of rising professionals age 40 and under, and points to the League's investment in developing leadership, the credit union explained.
LGFCU and Civic said they have participated in this event for the past several years, and this year’s winners were Michael Nester, data insight analyst at LGFCU, and Kyle Wilson, business system analyst at Civic. They will advance to a regional competition where a statewide winner will be named.
The credit unions also noted their CEO, Dwayne Naylor, serves on the Worldwide Foundation of Credit Union board.
“Under his leadership, both credit unions focus on the ‘triple bottom line’ — a sustainable enterprise that delivers economic, social and environmental benefits — driving the Civic and LGFCU commitment to people, planet and prosperity,” the credit unions said.
